Whether you are planning a $10,000 wedding or a $100,000 wedding there is a rule of thumb on how much to pay for each category from your overall budget. Luckily, we broke down what percentage of the budget should go into which category. For this example, we will be planning a $20,000 wedding!
Reception: 45 percent: $9,000
Ceremony: 2 percent: $400
Attire: 8 percent: $1,600
Flowers: 8 percent: $1,600
Music: 8 percent: $1,600
Photography and/or Videography: 10 percent, $2,000
Stationary: 2 percent: $400
Rings: 3 percent: $600
Parking and/or Transportation: 2 percent: $400
Gifts: 2 percent: $400
Miscellaneous: 5 percent: $1,000
Emergency Fund: 5 percent: $1,000
Now of course this is just a base. If you want to go bigger on the flowers and scale back on photography then go for it. We don't judge!
